GLP-1s have been an unprecedented success that has generated massive revenue gains for drugmakers Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk, with both firms dominating the early charge in the obesity drug space. But obesity is set to be a hugely competitive market, and plenty of other players are working to take their piece of an enormous pie – and it won’t only be GLP-1 flavored.
So, what’s next after Wegovy, Zepbound and Foundayo?
Our upcoming webinar on Beyond GLP-1: Mapping The Next Generation Of Obesity Therapeutics will seek to answer that question. In the webinar, my Scrip colleagues and I will analyze the current market dynamics between obesity drugmakers. We will also address key upcoming catalysts, deals momentum, and emerging niche approaches that could drive growth in the obesity drug space in the coming years.
The webinar is complemented by our extensive coverage of the space through Scrip and will also be anchored by our series on “Obesity Beyond GLP-1s.” While we have consistently covered the ins and outs of the highly lucrative and dynamic obesity drug market, more updates and a changing landscape mean that we continue to bring you the latest on the topic.
Obesity is a huge, fast-moving market, and there will be a lot to cover in the webinar. Some of the key topics we’ll address include amylins, myostatins and quality of weight loss, combination therapies and multiple agonists, and oral formulations. We’ll also share a pipeline overview and highlight upcoming data readouts.
Beyond mechanisms of action, there are some distinctive trends driving the obesity landscape forward:
- China-specific obesity drug development. Pipeline growth is strong in the region, with the emergence of new-gen treatment options in weight management and a growing number of novel assets available for cross-border partnerships.
- Big pharma appetite for obesity assets. Dealmaking in obesity has surged beyond the high levels seen in 2025 with a preference. for additional mechanisms: amylin analogs, triple agonists, oral GPCR/ACSL5 inhibitors, long-acting depot formulations, among others.
We will also discuss:
- Key scenarios/risks that could reshape the obesity drug landscape
- Untapped market potential and niche development areas

The future of the obesity drug landscape will be driven by innovation just as much as by long-term efficacy and tolerability advantages.
